PARK FALLS -- Sunshine greeted over 500 students and staff who attended the second annual Deanery-Plus Mass at St. Anthony de Padua Church May 15. Students and faculty from the Holy Rosary School in Medford, Our Lady of Sorrows School in Ladysmith, St. Francis de Sales School in Spooner and St. Francis Solanus School in Reserve joined the St.Anthony student body to celebrate and proclaim their faith during the morning Mass.
"The Catholic schools in the deanery wanted to show we are united under Christ," said St. Anthony of Padua School principal, Brent Balsavich. He added, "We all welcomed the opportunity to celebrate Mass together. The event also gave the students and faculty a chance to socialize and get to know each other."
Bishop Raphael M. Fliss presided at a Mass with Fr. James Jackson, pastor of the Park Falls-Butternut-Fifield cluster of parishes, and Fr. John Anderson, pastor of the Ladysmith-Hawkins-Tony cluster. They were assisted by Deacon Chet Ball of St. Anthony Parish and Deacon Joe Stephanson of Holy Rosary Parish.
At the Mass Fliss urged the students to "celebrate your love of Christ each day. Speak with God on a regular basis."
