PARK FALLS -- As she announced the 2003 SDCCW scholarship winners, Anne Yorchuck, a former SDCCW president and member of the scholarship committee, said, "It was awesome to see the talents demonstrated by the women in our diocese."

This year 34 women in the diocese applied for scholarships, and from these talented applicants, four recipients were selected to receive $500 scholarships. The winners are: Colleen Johnson, Denise Korenuk, Danielle Lebeck and Michelle Sparks.

Johnson is a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, Almena, attends St. Mary's University in Winona, Minn., and is pursuing a career as a nutrition consultant.

Korenuk is studying elementary education at the University of Wisconsin, Superior, and belongs to Sts. Peter and Paul Parish in Gilman.

Lebeck, a member of Our Lady of the North Parish in Phillips, attends the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh, where she studies elementary education and language arts.

Sparks studies business and accounting at University of Wisconsin, Superior, and is a parishioner at St. Albert, Land O'Lakes.
